It's called "conditioning" and it starts with highly suggestive people in a learning oriented environment. Actually, I think many of the people have developed a sense of entitlement and don't understand the idea of actually working to get something! If things don't come easily, they have to blame someone! We have let this go way too long. I remember complaining about PC (as many others did) and being attacked for insensitivity! Good Lord...the idea that we might be sent somewhere for sensitivity training is not too far off if things go like they have been!
Don't want to insult anyone -- but it starts with letting kids have anything they want and no responsibility at home then snowballs from there... no one ever died from hard work.
