Jay Cost had an excellent blog entry on this topic, and others here at FR with knowledge of the Ohio operation have said the same thing. Really, this thing is like a military campaign. Advertising and polling is like an air attack (no pun intended re television ads), but end the end the battle is won or lost on the ground.

I'm not sure of the figure, but I have heard that up to 25,000 volunteers are working 'on the ground' here.

The full time campaign workers are incredible, and we even have 40 some pros from D.C. to help us finish this off.

I tell you, it's AWESOME!

(btw, the Kerry campaign has had to pay to get workers. There's no comparison between the two campaigns......NONE).
