Have you seen this photo of Annetta Flanigan, the Irish women who was kidnapped by terrorists in Afghanistan? (She’s the one on the left)

Who does she look like (maybe fifteen years ago)? And she’s Irish, too. Eerie.

Just some very simplistic late-lunchtime observations on the eve of what could prove to be the most watershed/pivotal event in the history of this republic (the revolution, the Civil War, the Great Depression, the World Wars, Vietnam, and all other major national tragedies notwithstanding):

I have been walking door-to-door, and making phone calls in south-central Pennsylvania for three weeks, and will continue through tomorrow night. At least here in this part of the state/country, there has been a perceptible shift toward the democrat ticket in the past two days. I pray that that shift is not representative of a nationwide trend.

Apparently a Kerry ‘documentary’ ran on various cable channels both here in Pennsylvania, and in other battleground states, over the weekend. It was referenced by quite a few people with whom I have spoken in the last forty-eight hours. I have not seen it, but, from what I have been told about its contents, it is a powerful piece of leftist propaganda, aimed at portraying Kerry as (among other fabricated roles) a champion of Vietnam vets (showing him comforting family members of those still missing in action, and showing him and John McCain returning from a senate-sponsored trip to Vietnam, taken in order to ‘bring closure’ to the Vietnam story). I can’t help but wonder how many battleground-state ‘undecideds’ have been affected by this piece of ‘documentary’ garbage.

The only way this election can be stolen is if the results in the ten or so swing states are close. In which case, we cannot blame the thieves – we must blame the uninformed voters, without whom the ground would not have been fertile for the thieves to begin their ‘legal’ (in name only) assault on the electoral process. Because the only way the votes in those states can be close is if the voters in those states have no idea of the contents of the resumes of the democrat contenders. If the average American voter truly knew what the candidates represent, the polls would be showing Bush/Cheney holding a commanding lead.

I have discovered over the past three weeks that, if you lay in front of the average American voter the truth about John Kerry’s Vietnam ‘service’ (a.k.a. Vietnam posing), his overt commiseration with the enemy (both here in the US and in Paris), and his socialist-agenda-driven twenty-year record in senate government, he is aghast. If you present to the average American voter the truth about John Edwards’ methods for amassing his personal wealth and power (a.k.a. the premeditated dismantling of the medical system in North Carolina through the use of self-enriching junk science), his role in the Clinton senate impeachment trial, and his socialist-agenda-driven six-year senate term, he is aghast.

But the average American voter is way too ‘busy’ to ferret out such facts on his own (a fact that grants the unelected, unaccountable mainstream media, and campaign ads that bear no resemblance to reality, a power that borders on omnipotence), so a large majority of Kerry/Edwards voters will be casting their votes on the basis of ignorance borne of apathy, during an era when ignorance and apathy on the part of the citizens of America are the strongest weapons in our enemies’ arsenal, and the most insidious threat to human freedom that has ever existed. The American voter, a slave to leftist propaganda, will serve as the bottom-line reason this once proud and glorious republic allows itself, for the first time in our history, to be reduced to reliance on other nations, whose interest in our safety and sovereignty is dubious at best, to call the shots.

Lenin knew that ‘useful idiots’ would be our undoing. Damn him for being right. And, if the American voter places his country in the hands of Kerry/Edwards, damn them for proving him so.

I have been praying a simple prayer, during the past three weeks – every morning, and sometimes while walking the night time streets from house to house:

When the American voter steps into the voting booth tomorrow, may he be infused with a sense of right and truth that somehow obscures the deep and powerful lies of this campaign. And, if he is not, may the Lord grant this nation yet more time, during which His remnant of faithful patriots might still awaken those who have chosen sleep over liberty.

Just some general observations re your observations ;^)

I've not heard of the Keri "documentary" you mention, but it seems to follow a tried and true pattern. Appealing to the emotions of an emasculated population with the warm and fuzzies is a sure winner. Not only have we become soft as a nation, but ignorant and lazy as well. Or more succintly, "fat, dumb, and happy".

Maybe it's my eternal optimism that keeps telling me the likes of a Jean Keri will never be elected our president(had similar thoughts re Bent Willie also, FWIW). The election and re-election (by whatever means) of Bent Willie was a shock to our systems, eh? Got us off our duffs too didn't it?

I'm still confident that conservatives will continue to make progress, but there's always the outside possibility that the worst could happen since the bowel movement we call Democrats will not likely go away. Their agenda is as old as time itself.

So, if Keri's comrades are actually able to pull a fast one, we can always say to ourselves, "Livin' on da plantation really ain so bad." For the life of me I can not figure out why Black voters continue to vote themselves back to the plantation. God Almighty help us.

An aside. I suppose I have always thought the "useful idiots" term was attributed to uncle Josef; turns out we may both be wrong. A short but interesting discussion HERE.

Wow, Joanie, I can't believe I am actually disagreeing with you, but I am! :)
Regarding:

"Because the only way the votes in those states can be close is if the voters in those states have no idea of the contents of the resumes of the democrat contenders. If the average American voter truly knew what the candidates represent, the polls would be showing Bush/Cheney holding a commanding lead."/I>

Joanie, I believe the MAJORITY of Kerry supporters know full well who John Kerry is, and what he stands for.
They know he is a socialist, they know he hates this country, and they know he wants the U.N. to have control over our security.

Socialists are afraid of the U.S. being a superpower; yes, that includes the socialists in this coutry. They want to balance our power by aiding and abetting our enemies.

Think about what Madeleine Albright and company did during the Clinton years to assist China, et all with the sattelite and missile technology. They did that for a reason, to balance our enemies power with our own. That's a hard pill to swallow, but if you look at the American leftist through their prisom, it makes complete sense. Here is the way I see the breakdown of the political spectrum, it is the same today as it was during the revolution:
1/3rd don't know, and don'care, 1/3rd know, but don't care, and then there are those of us, that know and care about our freedom and independance.
Fully one third of the colonists were actively opposed to our seeking independance from England, and one third didn't care one way or another. And of course there was that third that actively sought independance. But what did those that opposed our independance do, after it was clear that we were going to win the war?

They fled to Canada. We should be so lucky, today.

What did Samuel Adams say to the John Kerry type supporters of his day? Let's ask him:

"If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains set lightly upon you; and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
– Samuel Adams

Me too. And it will be the blacks and the hispanics that tip the scales. Tomorrow will be a great day for America.

With all due respect, you can’t be serious. Do you think all your neighbors who are voting for Kerry are socialists, or even know what socialism is? Most Kerry voters are idiots who either want anybody but Bush or who believe Kerry’s lies. They wouldn’t know socialism if it came up and bit them in the a$$.

We live in a totally different world than we did 230 years ago. The lazy and the ignorant have been calling the shots - at least in government and law - in this country for fifty years.

I think the term useful idiots more aptly applies. Who was it that said, "Never attribute to malice that which can best be explained by stupidity"? I think most of 'em are clueless. After all, how many Dims have you run into whose thought processes take 'em past the next 15 minutes??? Very rare, but very dangerous commodity.

Socialists are afraid of the U.S. being a superpower; yes, that includes the socialists in this coutry. They want to balance our power by aiding and abetting our enemies.

Now this I WOULD agree with. Their motivation being, what, to remove the last impediment to their eventual takeover, eh? A free, prosperous and strong America is a stumbling block to the would-be world governors. May we prevail.

After my reply finally posted, I went back and read it(one should proofread before hitting POST?) again and noticed this didn't actually say what I wanted it to say:

After all, how many Dims have you run into whose thought processes take 'em past the next 15 minutes??? Very rare, but very dangerous commodity.

Now, that SHOULD say that BRIGHT Dims(heh heh) are a very rare, but very rare commodity.

Now that looks a little better...

I have been saying for a while now that the intent of the left is to make the election process so onerous to the average voter that they will be able to accomplish their goal of rule by fiat. That tactic certainly worked for the Bolsheviks.

The Kerry campaign's tactics are straight out of the Communist Manifesto. I mean that in the literal sense. The mechanism of "declare victory regardless of the outcome" is nearly a word-for-word quote.

The trouble is, their only viable opposition, the GOP, has utterly failed to grab the offensive and redefine the discussion on their own terms. The political landscape has been reduced to petty squabbles over how they will spend our money, not whether they will spend our money. Even if Bush wins, which I believe he will, and whether or not the GOP majority is solidified in the Congress, which I believe it will be, I don't hold any hope that we'll see any reduction in the size and scope of government.

Without the counterweight of effective conservatism to slow the progress of the left, a complete transition to global socialism is inevitable, maybe even within our lifetimes.
