And it was clearly visible in the daylight that morning.

That was the first time I was back down here after the attacks, and I almost passed out in the stairwell in my building.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think that gesture is called "wonking".

OBL: Your security is not in the hands of Kerry or Bush or Al Qaeda. Your security is in your hands. Each state that doenst mess with our security has automatically secured their security.

Of course few have actually heard the word "kerry. This may well have been "Cheney" and the translator changed it to Kerry. I suspect the recording actually used the name Cheney if you listen carefully to the original.

'I know this is not a laughing matter, but that was funny!'

thanks, the transcript IS hard to understand, and maybe the only way I can stand the tension is to try to laugh with my friends here...my spouse thinks I have gone over the edge...

For myself, I am feeling the same anger and RAGE at Bin Laden that I felt when his animals flew into the WTC. As long as he breathes we have to get him. President Bush gives us our best opportunity to get that @$$hole and put him in a courtroom, and eventually execute him for his crimes. If he's captured under a Lurch presidency he will not be executed, he will be treated with kindnerss and sensitivity and wait to pass a global test. Well @#$% Kerry! We need GWB to get this animal and put him in a cage until we can exterminate him!!! I'm a very angry, Veteran, Catholic, Biker for Bush and I approve this message!!

Agree here with all your feelings - With that said, I really think this should not have been such a surprise. The fact is I think most that can read between the lines have been aware that UBL was very much alive as early as 2003 -

The words of GW, Powell, Rumsfeld and others changed slightly (but notably) regarding UBL - This is when they got "confirmation" that UBL was still alive - (this was not released to the public overtly - but it was in other ways).

UBL is continually living on borrowed time - One of these times are Shooters are going to zig and he is going to zag (the wrong way) and our guys will have him for lunch -

The last fact is, we have never had the needed forces working the Pakistan side of the border in order to kill UBL or Al Zawahiri. (there are many reasons for this - but looking back, you wonder if we should have just said the hell with all the "issues" and come hell or high water simply go in and get this SOB!)

OBL is running out of time & he knows it. This is nothing but a desperate plea in the hopes that Kerry will win, therefore weakening America, at the same time making him appear victorious against the Evil Americans (sic). I hope that America can see thru his BS, and Vote Bush for 4 more years. He needs to be taken out by "Whatever Means Necessary." As a matter of fact, I'd love to be the one to put the bullet right in the middle of his "fricken" forehead, and rid the world of this piece of camel !@#$.

<> I'm sorry, but reading over the responses to this thread I'm appalled at the partisan and "only the election matters" response to a serious (yeah, ha ha, maybe to some it's just 'hugh and series') threat. Wake up, this is a threat to Americans, not just Republicans. To claim that this is kerry/rather/eminem in disguise in a lame attempt at humor. It's even worse if you actually believe that. Bin Laden doesn't back Kerry, or Nader or Bush or any of us. If we can't unite against this threat, and instead are divided by liberal/conservative lines, then we are sitting ducks. To see that some people compare this to "democratic talking points" instead of an entirely anti-everyone-american death threat...it's just plain disgusting. ps. I can welcome my own damn self to Free Republic, thank you anyway. pss. He's obviously not dead, Jim.

Excerpts of Bin Laden's Video Statement

To the American people, my talk to you is about the best way to avoid another Manhattan, about the war, its reasons and its consequences .. I tell you: security is an important element of human life, and free people do not give up their security. Unlike what Bush says that we hate freedom, let him tell us why didn't we attack Sweden, for example.

It is known that those who hate freedom do not have dignified souls, like those of the 19 blessed ones. We fought you because we are free ... and want to regain freedom for our nation. As you undermine our security we undermine yours.

---

Even as you enter the fourth year after the Sept. 11 attacks, Bush is still misleading and deluding you and hiding the real reason from you. Consequently, there are still reasons to repeat what happened. I will tell you about the reasons behind these attacks and will tell you the truth about the moments during which the decision was made, for you to contemplate.

God knows that it had not occurred to our mind to attack the towers, but after our patience ran out and we saw the injustice and inflexibility of the American-Israeli alliance toward our people in Palestine and Lebanon, this came to my mind. The incidents that affected me directly go back to 1982 and afterward, when America allowed Israelis to invade Lebanon, with the help of the American 6th Fleet.

In these tough moments, many things raged inside me that are hard to describe, but they resulted in a strong feeling against injustice and a strong determination to punish the unjust.

While I was looking at those destroyed towers in Lebanon, it sparked in my mind that the tyrant should be punished with the same and that we should destroy towers in America, so that it tastes what we taste and would be deterred from killing our children and women

---

We did not find it difficult to deal with Bush and his administration, because it is similar to regimes in our countries, half of which are ruled by the military and the other half are ruled by the sons of kings and presidents. We have a long experience with them. Both types include many who are full of arrogance and greed.

This resemblance became clear in the Bush the father's visits to the region. ... He wound up being impressed by the royal and military regimes and envied them for staying decades in their positions and embezzling the nation's money with no supervision.

He passed on tyranny and oppression to his son, and they called it the PATRIOT act, under the pretext of fighting terror. Bush the father did well in placing his sons as governors and did not forget to pass on the expertise in fraud from the leaders of the (Mideast) region to Florida to use it in critical moments.

---

We had agreed with the general emir Mohammed Atta, God bless his soul, to carry out all operations within 20 minutes before Bush and his administration noticed. It never occurred to us that the commander in chief of the American armed forces will leave 50,000 of his citizens in the two towers to face these horrors alone.

It appeared to him (Bush) that a little girl's talk about her goat and its butting was more important than the planes and their butting of the skyscrapers. That gave us three times the required time to carry out the operations, thank God.

---

Your security is not in the hands of Kerry, Bush or al-Qaida. Your security is in your own hands. Any state that does not mess with our security has naturally guaranteed its own security.

Outside of the "Kerry" remark, which could be an insert, is there anything else in this video that could not have been said in late fall of 2001 by OBL? Notice the use of narrators for much of the transcript.

If it is contemporary, then the reliance on Michael Moore and standard DNC talking points is striking.

Thank you Michael Moore and John Kerry...Bin Laden has picked up on your very talking points

This is the most disturbing aspect. I have personally been disgusted by the repeated bashing of both our President and our country in a time of war. In a time long gone this would have been seen for what it is, treason. Now these same words used by Americans against America are being used by our enemy against us. To appear divided to our enemy shows weakness. Sadly there are far to many people in this country who listen to this crap and honestly believe that if we cower to these barbarians they will leave us alone. They fail to see that this is a war, and a war unlike one we have ever seen.

In regards to Osmama Bin Laden's tape;

While Shepard Smith (FOX NEWS around 7:30PM EDT) was reporting on a Bush rally tonight during a live feed he said (voice over)

Shep

"I tell you this with this information from our sources at the DoJ, according to US officials, US intelligence analysts are concerned that the tapes from UBL and the one about which we just spoke {Adam Gahdahn (yahyah)} might be a signal for an impending attack... Quoting here: "Analysts have for months believe that the emergence of a Bin Laden message would signal an impending attack" that from the official ... another quote here "there is a seriousness and an urgency with the emergence of this Bin Laden tape that surpasses anything we've seen before." Again - that from a US official quoted to our sources at the DoJ. The official said analysts are linking the 2 tapes and examining the tone and symbolism of the 2 tapes. They believe that the 1st tape from someone who appears to be an American, and may be this Adam Gahdahn, symbolizes brute force and al Qaeda's presence in the US. .. the offical said that the message of that tape is "We are Here"... the tone of the Bin Laden tape shows an attempt to justify the killing of innocents the official said... much more on this from our sources at the DoJ...

cut to Arnold introducing Bush (at rally)
