I kinda started out with a "yuck" response, too. But once you read the whole article, the writer's argument becomes more compelling. As with all things in life, though, I personally would still argue for balance above all. Bush does seem to do his best to balance his faith with intellect. Kerry of course, does not balance his intellect with faith. Additionally, Kerry's logic and intellectual faculties don't appear to be strong enough to compensate for his other character flaws. Thus, I would say that Bush is closer to being a complete person; contrasting Kerry who is obviously far short of being "whole." Maybe that's why people instinctively find Bush more likable.
