I can't believe on the last weekend before the election the VP is in Hawaii and the Pres is in NH. Makes me feel a bit queasy. I'm sure there is a positive way to look at it, but it escapes me at the moment.
Well, it's going to get bumpy. The "missing explosives" story did not break our way. CNN is reporting it as a settled issue and they're probably right--though I could add a dozen angles they will never touch. I'm not expecting the friggin' MSM to cut Bush any slack tomorrow.
I know how you feel--I don't know whether this is good or bad, but we'll find out soon enough. Either W is doing so poorly that he needs to try to scrap together enough EV to win, or else he's comfortable in the battleground states and is going for a landslide. I doubt very much this is bluff, W and Cheney aren't about to waste any of their valuable time this late in the game if HI and NH were out of reach just to "scare" the other side.
I attended a Cheney town meeting in Sioux City, Iowa this afternoon. Bush is in town Monday. Cheney's been here twice now, Bush will be here twice. Laura's been here.
This is as Republican an area as you'll find. The strategy is obviously to turn out the base. Minds aren't going to be changed at this point.
