Very true! I'm a 9/11 survivor, and (still) live blocks from 2 of the biggest terror targets -- the NYSE and the Federal Reserve Bank -- but I don't let that rule my life. Yes, I'm more cautious and alert to suspicious characters and for suspicious packages, etc., but I refuse to live in fear. For one thing, I still go to my favorite Indian restaurant, which is across the street from the FRB and less than 2 short blocks from the NYSE.
You must live pretty close to where I work (right by FRB). Howdy neighbor!
