*waves* Just thought I'd stop in and say HI so y'all knew I was alive. School and work have kept me busy. I need to be doing homework right now. I also wanted to make a big announcement to all of you.....I have resigned my membership to the Republican Party effective today and have hereby joined the Constitution Party. I sent the following letter to Chairman Ken Mehlman--not that he will personally read it:
April 22, 2005

Ken Mehlman, Chairman
Republican National Committee
310 First Street SE
P.O. Box 96994
Washington, DC 20077-7556

Dear Chairman Mehlman,

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter. I have been a Republican since I was old enough to understand what the party stood for. Unfortunately, the reasons I identified with the party are no longer there. The GOP’s platform has moved away from true conservatism in an effort to please everyone. When you try to please everyone, you please no one. The GOP is no longer the “conservative” party. True conservatism does not foster big government. While I admire GW Bush and am happy having him as President over Kerry, it is not a true victory. My areas of contention with President Bush stem from several issues, the most prominent of them the soft stance on immigration and our borders; the avoidance of developing alternative fuel sources to reduce our dependence on foreign oil; the expansion of government.

I feel that our borders are a grave concern and the programs and policies backed by the Bush administration in regards to immigration and the borders are wrong for our country, especially in a time where we live with the threat of terrorism.

Alternative fuel sources are not only a necessity, but they are attainable. Government institutions, such as Argonne National Labs, have solutions, however the all mighty oil lobby squelches them. Moving towards greater use of ethanol would help our economy in several ways. It would reduce or dependence on foreign oil, reduce if not eliminate the need for farm subsidies as it would rive up the price of grain, and it could provide us with another viable export to raise our countries GDP.

I can’t even begin to express my disgust at the larger interference of government in our lives. We used 9/11 as an excuse to give up rights. Our forefathers never envisioned a nation in which government was present in every aspect of our lives.

There are other equally important issues that bother me—the apparent giving up on the fight to remove any kind of gun control, throwing in the towel and allowing judges to rule based on their own edicts and foreign laws and opinions rather than on our constitution, the lack of zeal in fighting the removal of any reference to God in our history and the list goes on. Political correctness is killing our country.

I applaud President Bush for his economic policies, his hard line stance on the preservation of life and War on Terrorism and the urgency and zeal with which he is addressing the Social Security crisis. I will continue to support him on those issues.

I cannot, however, in good conscious support a party that no longer supports true conservatism. I need to invest my time and energy into a party that will support true conservatism…that will fight for our constitution and our constitutional rights. I am therefore resigning as a Republican and do here now align myself with the Constitution Party.

I pray that one day the GOP will come back to conservatism. As the Democrats moved to radical liberalism, the Republican Party has moved left to take their place in mediocrity.

Regards,

Beautifully said, beautiful. ;^)

Be that as it may I've this nagging feeling -- based solely on what I've witnessed -- the RINOs in control of the party these days really don't give a damn what the "old conservitive" base says or is saying.

No they don't, and why should they.
Most of the right's psyop time & resources has been spent fashioning the "new" & "improved" base they think they can count on when the chips are down.
~sigh~
Growin' old, it ain't for sissies & now I think we have an important clue *why* that's so true, huh.

HOW'YA BEEN!!????
Man I pray all's been well for you, school, & the kids.

I realize how busy you are whatwith trying to juggle all those demands, and let's face it ya can't be posting on an Internet site *&* meeting the demands of life by actually living it, can ya.

Now that'something I've tried telling Slim, many times.
But you know Slim, Cherry.
He's got one gawd-awful thick head; which, is one thing that hasn't changed in all the time you've been gone.
Some things Angel -- for good or bad -- never change.

Thick heads.

...notwithstanding. {~great seeing you!!!} {g}
