ONLY 10 DAYS AGO THE RED SOX WERE ON THE BRINK OF BEING SWEPT OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS! AND NOW ARE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!
Pinch me!
"And the curse was lifted and sadness spread throughout the land."
Congratulations.
Now don't hurt yourself.
Boston sucked for 86 years.
And David Ramirez!
Congratulations!!
86 = 42*2+2
There's something deep there. :)
That's a big assumption... :-) ... maybe on nights with an eclipse of a full moon, the curse is simply suspended.
Bush will win Mass.
That is how the RATS would have it!
Thank you. Thank you very much!
Let's hope, or even to Massachusetts politicians generally.
Analogous to the high priest laying hands on the second goat, signifying the transferrence of all the sins that were laid up in the temple for the year, then sending the goat out into the wilderness, thereby cleansing the temple.
The goat that was allowed to escape, but banished.
Yo, Lurch! I hereby lay my cyber hands on you, signifying the transferrence of all the sins of the democrat party into your ditty bag. A one-way ticket for your journey is in the mail and will arrive November 2nd. Happy Trails!
If the democrat party can cleanse itself by voting republican this year, it will have the opportunity to re-build itself from scratch and put its leadership back into the hands of those who love America and will help to restore its principles.
Otherwise it may just suffer the fate of the first goat.
The Pats win the SB, the Sox win the WS, and Kerry loses the WH all in the same year. It doesn't get any better than this. 8-)
I don't think so. You DO remember what happened earlier this year when Senator Kerry was lustily booed at Fenway Park during a Sunday night game? Or the fact Kerry literally threw a girlie-man "first pitch"?
The 2004 BoSox are the most entertaining and intriguing team in recent memory. From an A's fan, Congratulations!
I'm disappointed in my Cardinals team - and disagree with you. The Cards fell into a bad slump at exactly the wrong time. All teams do this. In my opinion - the Cardinals were the best team to play baseball in a very long time. It's a shame the rest of the world didn't see this.
CAMP KERRY CRAVES RED SOX STARDUST!
In a story which was written by David Kibbe for the Boston (RED SOX NATION) Globe today:
'Could the bat of David Ortiz or the pitching arm of (bloddy) Curt Shilling decide who will be the leader of the frere world? Senatorr John F. Kerry thinks so. The Massachusetts Democrat has linked himself to the fortunes of the formerly woebegone Boston Red Sox, a scrappy bunch (some looking like some of his old VVAW members) Johnnie Damon, etc , who last night WON thier first World Series championship since 1918 in a four-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Kerry took time out from the campaign trail to watch the Red Sox from his hotel room.
Kerry even received a ceremonial blessing from an 83- year-old Navajo Indian, Chester Nez in New Mexico- the same blessing he gave at Fenway Park in april in an attempt to reverse the 86 year old Curse of the Bambino.
"We all want the same things,' Kerry said earlier during a campaign stop in Ohio. 'We want our country to be respected in the world, we want good jobs, and we want to beat the New York Yankees!'
Historically, there is some precedent linking hardball sports to hardball politics.
FDR of New York won the White House in 1932 and 1936 when-who else-the Yankess won the Wortld Series. The last presidential candidate to lose the election when his home team played in the World Series as another New Yorker, Al Smith, who was beaten by Herbert Hoover in 1928. The year the Yankees swept the same St. Louis Cardinals, four games to none.
Massachusetts Democrats are dreaming of a double play this year. We believe too.'
We shall all know on Nov 3rd or Nov 4th or Nov 5th.
The 2004 Cardinals were as good as the 1990 Oakland A's, and both teams were swept in their respective World Series'. Interestingly enough, both teams were managed by Tony LaRussa. His teams have a pattern of "slumping" at the worst possible moment - as he is now 0-8 in his last 2 WS as a manager, and 5-12 overall.
Regardless, this year's BoSox smoked the Yankees four straight, and then turned around and did it to the Cardinals. They played in a tougher league (the AL is so much better than the NL these days) and deserve everything they've earned. Lastly, as for intrigue and entertainment factor, the Cardinals can't touch the BoSox.
