France would have welcomed Saddam with open arms like they did Khomenie(spelling?).
But the country most in the tank with Iraq was Russia. The full Gertz story shows that Russia tried to get Saddam to smell the coffee, but he wouldn't, so they said "you gotta get these wmd out of here or you're gonna help GWB". So he lets the Russians cover their own asses and his. He miscalculates the success of the invasion and his ability to keep free. The Russians get caught on camera, GWB calls them on it, Beslan happens and Putin is in the bear trap.

Either a very fortunate turn of events in our favor, or Karl Rove is really ONE HELL OF A STRATEGIST and leaked the missing weapons story the other day and intentionally let Kerry jump all over it so that when this came out, he'd look like an a$$.

The USA and Russia have more common interests at this point in time than we do with Old Europe. The Russkies have a dangerous situation on their front of the WOT. Bush and Putin are quietly working together, IMHO yep -that's my theory. (a for real Jack Ryan plot)

Nah, I think Kerry will blame Bush tomorrow for waiting until March to invade Iraq and that we should have gone in sooner.

That's Putin's best play. "Yes, we removed these explosives. They are in a safe place. We did not want them in the hands of unreliable persons during the confusion of the war."

I agree with you. However, if Bush has pretty pictures of the trucks crossing into Syria in a post Beslan world, Putin will look very bad...

Speaking of "changing the subject", please inform me if this does not add up:
This whole "380 tons missing" story was scheduled to run on 60 minutes on Halloween night.
.
For what ever reason, and I think it was this:
Discovered papers: Hanoi directed Kerry
- and this -
3rd Vietnamese communist paper discovered in archive
Team Kerry launched early via the NYTimes to take up all the oxygen - It did just that, and it showed up on Drudge within an hour of the "Hanoi John" papers surfacing on the net.
Good thing the DNC shot their early, had Team Kerry launched as planned, this would be Wednesday - after the election.

If the MSM lets this out, I have a
revised prediction for Tuesday:
Bush 59.1%
Kerry 39.7%
Kerry will win seven states - NY, CA, MA, RI, DE, VT, IL, and DC.
Bush - 406
Kerry - 132

I don't believe there is as much freedom of the press in Russia, though I could be wrong. If this is true, I don't see it being reported there.
