I understand this evening that columnist Tony Snow said on Bill O'Reilly this evening that the Kerry campaign was conceding Florida and focusing its resources on shoring up Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Checked with my guy on the Kerry campaign. He said Kerry is currently scheduled to spend Thursday night, all of Friday, and Friday night in Florida.
So for now, I don't think there's anything to Snow's rumor. It seems rather late to pull resources, anyway. The ads, the volunteers, the resources... they are where they are.
I agree, I love Tony, but he got snowed on this one by his Democrat contacts.
Just one problem, Juan's reaction seemingly gave Tony's assertion weight.
Even if internally conceding Florida, there is no way the Kerry camp can even pretend like they're not going to win there. I can't see the benefit in Mr Snow lying, either. Somewhat puzzling.
I saw it - Mr. Snow indicated that the Kerry people might be thinking of other states to focus on (my words - don't remember exactly Mr. Snow's words) - said, I believe, that polls showed President Bush up by 8 -
it was wishful, if not partially mindless thinking, in the first place. it was splashed over threads all night tonight; thank heavens NRO threw some water on this one. it was potentially bad for the GOTV effort, since it could convince some FL republicans that FL was in the bag.
"Kerry is currently scheduled to spend Thursday night, all of Friday,"
This is good news. What a slacker. I remember Al Gore took the day off on November 1, 2000. If he wasn't so lazy he would be in a gore re-election campaign now instead of eating pork rinds on the couch in tennessee.
The only scenario that would make sense if that in the early voting Kerry's people have been able to determine that he is behind or at best even. If all their efforts to get fraudulent voters to the polls have failed, he might well throw up his hands. But as others have pointed out, it might be bad info. My take is also the same though, if it is known that he is pulling out of Florida, the race is officially over.
Didn't President Bush during the last presidential election go to California even though there was no chance just for show and to bolster his supporters there?
Possibly, Kerry's thugs have given up privately, but he must go for show.
Personally I would like it if he moved to South Beach and stayed there.
"Just one problem, Juan's reaction seemingly gave Tony's assertion weight."
This is the one thing that makes me think, just maybe. It's hard to believe, but it's possible especially if Gallop's numbers are reflected in Kerry's internal numbers.
Yeah, there's over 115 posts on another thread telling about what Tony Snow said on O'Reilly. Most people think it is true. Even if it's not, the rumor is enough to demoralize his supporters.
Rove knows that disinformation is a two way street.
Classic chess move that compels your opposition to make a move that ends the game.
Hold your breath and watch.
And this weekend, Sean Hannity is touring FL and OH with Bill Bennett, Ollie North and Zell Miller.
Bubba was in Boca Raton stumping for effin' today so I think Tony has some bad info.
Saying he's "giving up" on Florida or "conceding florida" is not the same as "pulling out of Florida." Tony knows Kerry's schedule as well as anyone , I'm willing to bet. Kerry cannot afford to cancel stops in a state on which many dems want to exact their revenge for 2000. He's commited to showing up there. He has got to keep up appearances.
I think that Geraghty's source, knowing full well that a rumor like this doesn't help Kerry, told Jim what he should have as a good campaign worker: "Kerry's still campaigning in Florida"
Juan Williams did agree with Tony. He said something like, "it's not in the bag for Bush, though". This is exactly the kind of thing you don't want to throw water on. It is incredibly demoralizing to the democrats. that's why Kerry and the dems will never admit it.
kerry's internal opinion polls are indicating he cannot win Florida. They have made no announcement of leaving and we all know the MSM will not be reporting this fact. The democrats are trying to cut down on where they spend money. (Maybe they are running out of money) If Florida cannot be won, then continuing to spend money there would be futile. By skipping Florida now, the democrats will be concentrating on Ohio, Iowa, Michigan, Penn., Minnesota and Wisconsin. Let's pray that President Bush does take Florida and as much of the others as possible. Maybe the American voter is beginning to see through the media's gloved hand treatment of kerry.
People would notice him pulling out and assume he was going to lose the election.
Pulling out of Florida?...prematurely?...Kerry's still waiting for his shipment of discount Viagra from Canada again huh?
