Since we can't post stuff from the Rockford Register-Star (and none of the local TV stations have a story on it) I figure I'd pass the info on.
Richard Ragsdale worked at the Northern Illinois Women's Center in Rockford for 31 years, hanging his shingle out in April, 1973, not long after the Roe vs. Wade decision. He was the region's only abortion provider. He was 69 years old and died after a short illness, which I've been told was pancreatic cancer.
Recently the clinic had gone to being open two days a week. Since Ragsdale's hospitalization, that has been reduced to one day. The Register-Star reports that the clinic will stay open with another doctor performing the abortions, and a local protestor tells me they've seen a new face showing up down there one day a week. Our bet is that they're having to bring someone in from Chicago.
I'd like to echo the words of another local protestor, Kevin Rilott, who said, "I pray that God has mercy on him like I pray he has mercy on all of us." But I will also say that the Register-Star article calls Ragsdale a frequent church-goer, and I shudder that any "church" would have a man elbow-deep in the blood of children.

A long-time clinic protestor I spoke with today said it involved one of the young daughters and Fredeick's of Hollywood-style attire.
A woman I knew survived 5 more years after diagnosis and chemo. Then suddenly it was back and within a month, she passed away.

Then God seems to have taken his time in dealing with him. Given God's utter glee at wiping out large numbers of people in the OT, giving this guy an aneurism 20 years ago seems like a small thing.

Note that nobody has said God killed him, so your comparison doesn't really work. As for the OT, I wouldn't be so quick to ascribe "glee" to the Almighty in those situations. Calling for God to kill off people like Ragsdale reminds me of something I heard an old preacher say: "Don't pray to God for justice; it'll be the worst thing you ever get."

Well, for a book that's supposed to have all the answers, it's remarkably short of a lot of answers. Next week's lotto numbers, how the Kiwi bird managed to walk all the way from Mt. Ararat to New Zealand, who'll win the election in 2008, how to believe in the patently goofy, what the secret to popularity with girls is, the riddle of steel...
God, I wish I could find sympathy for a man who devoted his life to murdering as many babies as he could get his hands on while chasing the Almighty Dollar...but I can't seem to find it in me.
It's not up to me, though (I am a non-violent anti-abortion activist, and I will not abide those who sink to the abortionists level). I do not determine the laws of the land, and there are many legal behaviors I find deplorable. The Lord will now judge him by his deeds, as He will me and you.
I do think He will lay some type of price upon the doctor for the bodies he butchered and the heads he collapsed, though. I hope he saw the error of his ways; I do not wish anyone to die without knowing Him.
