I realized after I typed that the Detroit guy you mean is probably Shakir Al-Khafaji, who also financed Scott Ritter's movie, right? He paid Jim McDermott, who went with Bonior to Baghdad; and Bonior in turn received a campaign donation from Abdurahman Alamoudi on other occasion for lobbying activity against anti-terrorist legislation--that's why I thought of him when you mentioned Detroit and Alamoudi, but then I reread and realized he wasn't in the Volcker Report so you probably meant someone else. Sorry for any confusion.

The guy that was mentioned was a Middle Easterner who arranged and financed the congressional trip to the Middle East. I have trouble enough with European names, Middle Eastern names never stick in my head. But he was one of the few Americans named in the Volker Report.
