NBC blanked out the sound of her CD playing her voice by the time the incident hit the west coast.
I think NBC faces some liability issues surrounding how that happened.
Some techies are surely looking for new jobs, they are the bottom line unless there was an ordered sabotage.

"The west coast airing had the vocal track edited out. All that was heard was the band." "Apparently, Simpson wasn't the only one attempting to perpetrate a fraud on the public."
After hearing about this SNL fiasco last night I decided to tivo the West Coast taped version...I just finished watching it...you're right about the editing.
At the closing, she actually "apologized" saying "my band started playing the wrong song," so she did a little "ho down."
Bottom line...she was lip synching...then she lied about it.
Having said that, although I no longer watch SNL, it occurs to me that all of the musical guests while I was used to watch the show, should have lip synched. The accoustics in that studio are terrible for music.
Also, the show's polictical skits are very left biased.
I don't miss the program at all.

Watching Frank Zappa hammer out Rat Tomago on SNL was great!

remember when musicians werent all posers? That's the main problem... most "Performers" now a days are just singer posers. That's whats happened to the main stream music industry. Look at the top 20 charts... I bet not even half are real bands... Just people who sing and dance to prerecorded tracks.

Oh my. I wonder if Hilary Duff was seen any where back stage . . .
(Lip sync sabotage was a key plot point in Duff's Lizzie McGuire film . . .)
