same here,
But after listening to all of the local rhetoric, I got burned out. The ideas sound good on paper, but do not pass with people in general. I got tired of supporting something that no one took seriously (even LP members) and STILL having Slick Willie elected twice. Besides, the guy who was running for senate from New Mexico that year looked like grampa Munster. There were a few other reasons but that was a big one for me.
I will vote for LP when the S. Texas dems run unnopposed in the judgeships and I still read some of their stuff, but I am an "ex".
It's nice that he sees that dividing and conquering has been helping the left in this country for far to long
BTTT
You're both confused. H. (Humberto) Ron Hubbard was the less renowned brother of L. Ron Hubbard, who along with Lyndon LaRouche's kid brother, Irving, went on to found the Liberace Party (wanting to bring more flash to U.S. politics).
Meantime, John Hospers went on to found a world famous medical center in Baltimore.
No need to thank me!
See my #85. I believe that clears it up once and for all. :-)
Are you really that ignorant, or do you just play a twit on FR?
And it's L. Ron Hubbard, compounding the idiocy of your post.
I sent an email to johnjhopsers@aol.com, and the person with that address confirmed that he did write the letter, and he gave me his phone number if anyone wants to confirm that it is him. Thanks for the post, Y2!
Now that we are pretty sure that he wrote this, where might it be published? According to wikipedia, he is an editor of Liberty magazine which I've never heard of.
Who did Dr. Hopser release this too?? (media source?) Why isn't it on his or the Libertarian websites??
I too, have been an LP activist in the past, and I'll be voting for Dubya. I like and respect him. K*rr* scares me. I think he'd be a great Canadian Prime Minister.
I did not ask. I only asked if he was the author. The text of his letter is this:
Yes, I did write the letter. My e-mail address is johnjhospers@aol.com, And my phone number (LA directory) is [delted by me], in case anyone wants it for verification.
This kindof letter wouldn't be put on the libertarian website if its true anyway.
Who did Dr. Hopser release this too?? (media source?)
See reply #88
Why isn't it on his or the Libertarian websites??
You're kidding right?
I sent an e-mail to that address and got a "Delivery Failed" notification. His mailbox must be full.
Plenty of us libertarians are supporting Bush. As far as I know, most or all of the prominent Randians are on board as well. In other words, all of us who have a grain of common sense -- and John Hospers has enough common sense to sustain an entire university philosophy department singlehandedly -- are supporting W this year. There will be time enough for libertarians to argue with conservatives about drug legalization, etc. AFTER we have first rescued civilization from the evils threatening it from without (Islamofascism) and within (the modern Democratic Party and its media wing). Even we fanatics have priorities.
Couldn't have said it better.
I feel vindicated.
So what the heck is his name? The article is cited Hospers while the email is Hopsers, I'd hardly think Hospers would take that AOL name unless someone had the other and having a Hopsers take credit for the letter under the current circumstances is pretty fishy...
The suspense is killing me!
I'm seeing the letter on a few blog sites now...all with no source verification. [YIKES]
