There is an email going around, (I was told about it and did not see it) that claims that soldiers from Iraq contacted Starbucks and inquired as to how they could get some Starbucks coffee. Supposedly, they were sent back a reply that essentially told them that Starbucks did not support the war nor what the soldiers were doing.

Anyone hear anything about this?

Claim: Starbucks refused free product to G.I.s serving in Iraq, saying it didn't support the war and anyone in it.

Status: False.

I hope not, because Starbucks is one of my best holdings. That stock has been on fire for a few years, right through the Clinton recession and after.

I will hunt around and see what I can find out.

I am surprised by this study because in the past it has been said that coffee, though addictive, is one of the safer substances around. I am not sure that I can live without it, quite frankly.

Anyway, while Starbucks throws a few bones to the environmentalists and labor activists so they'll keep drinking, it behaves like any other corporation,
we shareholders come first,
and I am sure we will soon be celebrating the opening of the first Starbucks store in Baghdad, as soon as it's safe. I would be very surprised if SBUX would risk meddling in politics.

There might be some other logistical issue in getting beans to the green zone, though. But I am sure that people would be willing to ship some care packages to our troops.
