I hate to use several days worth of letters to the editor as an example...but from what I've read in the Mpls StarTribune (aka The Red Star), most letter writers say that hullabaloo over this is a smokescreen by Bush and Cheney to cover their anti-gay sentiments.

If these letters could be characterized as being representative of the GLBT (or their supporters) community in the Twin Cities, they're not planning on switiching their votes any day soon.

Coupla points:

1. If the legacy media is still reporting on this, there's
a reason. My guess is that it's because the gay staffers
are not happy with what the Kerry Kamp did. Now, why
might that be? Perhaps because ...

2. The subtext of the attack was: If you're gay, and it
suits our political whims, we'll "out" you.

When you add this to the stated positions of K+E on
the marriage issue, it has got to be a bit unsettling
to the alternative lifestylers.
