Half a billion by 2050 is very doable given the fertility rates of new immigrants. Like it or not the vitality of a civilization is quite correletaive to population growth. Growth is good, stability is stagnation, and decline is decline. Look at Europe. Look at Europe in 2050.

I reckon you're right. I read that to say that the 200M would come from immigration alone.
But then, as you say, 200 million more Americans ain't necessarily a bad thing, on its own. :)
