The Territorial Army has been inflitrated by Al Qaeda suspects, giving the Islamic terrorist group potential access to military bases, explosives and fuel dumps.
Five Al Qaeda suspects are believe to have trained as part time soldiers in the TA. As least one is now is custody.
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that other terror suspects have attempted to join the TA, but said that they were rejected after undergoing security checks.
The connection with Britain's Al Qaeda network was uncovered in a series of wide ranging investigations by MI5 and Scotland Yard's Special Branch.
It is believed that terrorist suspects may have been taking advantage of military training as well as gaining access to bases and weapons.
The arrest followed a tip-off from Pakistan, although details of the case cannot be reported for legal reasons.
Recently acquired intelligence suggests that the group has been planning a 'spectacular' attack, possibly using car bombs against high rise office blocks in the City of London.

Pakistan does it again.
Any background on the TA we should know?
No surprises there. But, notice it has been caught and the security checks have already eliminated some of the attempts. This indicates to me that at least some of the system is working. Remember, it's better than the military in Iraq 2 years ago.
I betcha these boys dont 'look Muslim' in any way shape or form...
England, Sweden and soon the U.S. will realize what a mistake it was to essentially open the borders.
Sounds like 4 of these UK suspects are still at large to me..
I'm really hope they catch them soon before they start blowing thing up!!
Ivan,
Bump for input.
I was getting the impression that they knew who the other 4 were and were about to deal with them as well. I could be wrong there, I couldn't get to the link on the article and just read the info posted.
This is a daring MO, now the Islamokazis are joining the UK National Guard as sleepers?
Mods put up the correct link now, I typed in the second page of the addy instead of the first..

Got it, read the article. My first understanding was completely off base. oops.
That is correct, for TAVR read NG. My daughter is currently serving in the TAVR in Basrah and my son is in the LA NG in Baghdad.
They had to apply for special permission to meet, my son cannot shop in the British NAAFI(Px) and my daughter cannot shop at the US Px. It is such stupid petty rules that seperate
the forces.

Not to quibble too much, but the newspaper is the London Times, not the UK Times. The London Times is even more full of itself than the New York Times, so they don't always even bother to say London when identifying themselves.
Thanks for the post, by the way.
That's because its name is The Times, not the "London Times".
