In a face-to-face encounter with John Kerry's daughter Alexandra, gutsy Liz Cheney demanded an apology on Saturday for Kerry's decision to publicly identify her sister Mary as "a lesbian" to a presidential debate audience of millions.
Sitting right next to Alexandra while the two guested on ABC's "Good Morning America," the married mother of four said a Kerry apology "would be appropriate."
But Alexandra didn't stray from the Kerry campaign's edict that Mary Cheney's sexuality is "fair game," telling the Liz, "when you choose to be part of a campaign, you choose to make yourself public." The day before, top White House aide Mary Matalin also suggested it was time for Kerry to apologize - but so far the top Democrat refuses to acknowledge he was wrong.
The reaction to Kerry's "lesbian" outburst - and the way his campaign has mishandled it - has been overwhelmingly negative, with polls showing that, by a margin of two-to-one, Americans think he was wrong to "out" Cheney in Wednesday night's debate.
Some pundits thought that the gay-baiting ploy could be politically fatal, with WABC Radio's Monica Crowley flatly predicting on Saturday that it could "cost Kerry the election."
Even the Christian right - who team Kerry thought would be turned off to learn that a member of President Bush's political family is gay - has rallied to Mary Cheney's defense.
Columnist Zef Chafets noted in Sunday's New York Daily News, "Well-known political preachers like Jerry Falwell and James Dobson have gone out of their way to defend her right to privacy. Conservative radio talk shows and Web sites have been flooded with denunciations of Kerry and support for Mary."
It's all in the family. Don't forget the clueless, arrogant hag he's married (up) to.
That is correct, it is Lynne. Edwards' wife name is Elizabeth
am anti-kerry, but what's the BIG DEAL 'bout info that the V.P.'s child is homosexual?! it's kerry's political risk if he wants to make an issue of it, and likely be seen in a 'negative light'.
At this point, Mary Cheney should go on every single show. She should come out and say, "hey I am gay, so what."
Then she should say that she chose not to be a public figure but since the RATS chose to bring this up, kerry has to answer:
1. Why didn't he sign a 180
2. Why hasn't Terayzah given her tax records
3. Why didn't Kerry give up his senate seat
4. Why hasn't kerry shown up to any senate votews in over a year.
October Suprise?

I'm not part of the ''Christian right'', but I've known about it for at least a year. It wasn't ''news'', but it was an invasion of privacy. Kerry doesn't know Mary Cheney & couldn't possibly have had her permission to talk about her sex life much less to presume to read her mind. OTOH, Kerry almost certainly knows Barney Frank & Barney Frank is a public figure.
Was that the daughter that wore the see-thru dress that showed her flapjacks??
Yep. See it here.
Had his marriage to her mother annulled.
There is a speculation that this whole event is some strategic move... I don't get it.
Why would the DNC do it?? Wouldn't it be stupid of them?
btw, I believe the author got it wrong--Mrs. Cheney's first name is "Lynne."
I believe that ''Liz Cheney'' is the other Cheney daughter, Mary's sister.
exactly!!...she was worse to me than Kerry....
Hmmm...I bet he conveniently went to the same bishop(s) that annulled Kennedy's marriage. No wonder the Boston Diocese was so corrupt.
Annulment of the marriage of parents has no bearing on the Church status of the children.
I'm not sure I get that. Would you explain?
I believe what ShandaLear was refering to that Kerry had his first marriage annuled many years after his daughters had been born
That's my point, If he wants to talk about Mary Cheney, then let's have a discussion about his first marriage in relation to family values. The screams from the left would be deafening.
Remember how the press decided Chelsea Clinton was not "fair game"?
