John Kerry, while still a naval reserve officer, met with then enemy in Paris and took their position....

Yes Jeff. And rumor has it he was stripped of his "top secret" security clearance shortly thereafter.

According to this report, not much time elapsed after this incident before John Kerry was discharged from his duties as a Naval Reserve officer. There is some question regarding the status of his discharge. This all took place in 1971.

Whatever it was, in 1978 (as I recall) John Kerry applied for, and got, his discharge papers reissued by the then-Secretary of the Navy himself. This after newly-installed President Carter issued a presidential pardon of all war-resisters and draft-dodgers. The 1978 papers depict Kerry's discharge as "honorable."

I dunno. Jeff. But this seems to be such an interesting story, I hope somebody in the media will track it down. To this day, Kerry refuses to sign the federal form that would enable the release of something like 100 pages of his military service records that have not yet been made public.

Kudos on a great post, Jeff!

Thanks Betty...yes Kerry's record is interesting to say the least. I believe he got slapped down hard and then used his connections and the Carter admin to clean up his record. Sooner or later it will all come out.

I pray we can avoid a stint with him having his hands on the reins.
