Your understanding of Luke 22 is grossly flawed and greviously misapplied. Interesting that you should mention "context"!!! Please see Luke 22:49-51 and especially Matthew 26:52: "Then Jesus said to him, 'Put your sword back into its place; for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.'" Fortunately for you, the Lord's mercy is super-abundant. I urge you to renounce Satan, to repent, and to seek His kingdom and His truth while there is yet time.

I know that the "sword" reference is to the Word of God, not an actual sword. However in this day and age, with the threats that we are facing, do you think that God would not want us to be armed with steel as well?

The women of our country long ago learned that those without swords can still die on them.

I urge you to renounce Elmer Fudd and all his works.

Sure the Word brought the universe into being. That was the Word spoken by the Lord. When I speak the Word is seems to have slightly less potency. Sure, 'those that live by it die by it' and all that. Jesus does not call us to 'live by the sword' nor do I suggest we should. If you are as devote as you seem to be then you should know we should not pick and chose which teachings of Jesus we prefer and which to ignore. Rather we should seek to understand them in their entirety and apply them to our lives. In Matthew 26:52 Jesus is telling his disciples that all problems can not be solved with a sword and those that reach for a sword for every problem that comes along will end up on the business end of a sword very quickly. In Luke he is telling us 'be prepared'. When you are traveling on roads in dangerous places bad things can happen so one must be prepared. There is a difference between being a peaceful or peace loving person and being a 'pacifist'. The Lord calls us to do a great many things but I don't recall any place He calls us to submit to evil. He says we will suffer bad things in his name and be blessed for it but he does not say to submit to every thug that wants your money and your life and your wife. There is a significant difference.
If you think I have missed the point of Luke 22, please enlighten me.
