Your ignorance of Jesus's teaching is readily apparent to anyone familiar with scripture, and please, for your sake, do not ascribe words to Him which He never said. The sword carried by a follower of Christ is the Sword of the Spirit, i.e. the Word of God.

You are apparently misinformed. Read Luke 22:36. Besure to study the full context.

Ah. My error. I must have been thinking of some *other* Christ who said: "But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one."

Yes, most effective for defense against muggers.

The first time Jesus sent out the disciples he told them not to even take their purse but to trust in the Lord to provide everything they would need in their travels. This was an exercise of faith. The SECOND time (i.e. after his death) He instructed them to bring their purse and their money and a sword if they had one and if not, buy one.
