While John O'Neill is out there every day saving our country for us, he is
not practicing law and bringing home the bacon. He is also
not resting up from the lingering after-effects of the surgery he had earlier this year so he could donate one of his kidneys to his wife. He is
not spending his time with his family, pursuing his leisure interests or enjoying those things the rest of us enjoy. He's working overtime every day on one thing -- stopping John Kerry from destroying our country.
John and the Swift Vets And POWs For Truth are true American heroes, each and every one of them, and they need our support. There are only 2-1/2 weeks left for them to complete their mission.
Contribute To Swift Boat Vets and POWs For Truth!
Even if you can only afford five or ten dollars, give that. Give it tonight. It's the least we can do to support these men.

Koppel's gonna get smacked on talk radio all day tomorrow. The blogosphere will be crucial over the weekend. This should be a real embarrassment for Koppel if there's any justice.

I hope so, he sure has it comming. It was a partisan hit piece masquarading as journalism.
I hope talk radio grabs his toupee and flings it like a frisbee.
To: watsonfellow
for those of us unable to watch can you please post comments that Koppel and O'Neill made instead of just another "he kicked his butt" post......You might as well try to p*** up a rope as hope to get anyone on this forum to decently report a breaking story. Always has been, always will be.
This FR is just a chat room, with the occasional postings of actual news stories or specialized information from knowledgeable sources (military weapons, letters from the front, personal experiences, and the like).

Pinging you to an interesting thread. Ted Koppel gets himself badly mauled tonight, trying to take on John O'Neill of the Swift Vets.

You're tired, capocchio. Get some rest. Come back in the morningThis response too is so typical of many posters on FR: all opinion and no facts. It is morning, I just got up (East coast time), am not tired, and you attack the postee instead of the post.
I must conclude, since you did not address my point, that you agree with me: watsonfellow was correct in asking for "the facts, just the facts", a la Joe Friday. There is precious little on this thread that will be of any use around the watercooler today.

I continue to wonder how WW2 would have gone with today's "reporters" "covering" it.
When I consider how very little difference there is between the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, and Al Qaeda's attack on the Eastern US, and the deadly aims of both attackers, and then look at the reportorial aftermath, I shudder for what might have been.
It's way past time for an Old Media Shakedown. Too bad there isn't some sort of truthfulness in reporting commission the media have to answer to in order to keep their broadcast licenses. There are criminal penalities in all sorts of other industries for lying, and for lying with malice.

Actually, it's a bit late at night to watch an hourlong show and still have the mental capacity to comment. I watched the first few minutes, and heard Koppel say that the focus of the show is the Silver Star incident. I do not believe this is the best line of attack. I agree with
this op-ed (read, it's good) that it's too much of a "he-said she-said" situation, and there is never likely to be definitive proof one way or the other. I further agree with the op-ed that the
most potentially damaging Swift Vet allegation regards Kerry's first Purple Heart.

"It's way past time for an Old Media Shakedown."Two things can do that, IMO.
- Persistent public criticism -- in a torrential downpour that won't stop
- Stiff competition from New Media and from "New Old" Media

I'm trying to find my way to understand how the way ted "researched" this story in 'nam and "reported" it, while trying to smack John O'Neill around, differs in intent and result from kerry meeting with the 'Cong in Paris or "testifying" before the Senate about "war crimes."

Given sufficient space you could add "O'Neill got Koppel" to that great tag line.

Been OD'ing on Cranky Burgers, have we?
I didn't see teddy's house of mirrors, lies, and distortion tonight but I learned a lot about what O'Neill and Koppel said, and I found it very helpful, as usual on FR.
