But we love to pick on Tacoma...

Don't you remember the earthquake? Reportedly in Tacoma it did thousands of dollars in improvements. :-)

OK... OK... just kidding. Scott... you too...

I live just outside of Gig Harbor. I'm watching this with interest. Need to see where the stuff goes.

I live on Hales Passage and there was no oil here today. We left Gig Harbor to go to Tacoma to get gas on our boat but got a call about the spill and went towards Fox Island instead. There was no oil spill in sight on the Gig Harbor side of the point. That was at 2 p.m. and friend were heading to Poulsbo on the Gig Harbor side of Vashon as we came back. They said it was okay. It is interesting that I saw birds with necks like cranes flying in teh harbor today dark grey and black. I don't know if that is their color or not but have never seen them before there. We also saw 2 HUGE sea lions on the bouy in front of University Place today. A lot of harbor seals today too. I guess they were getting out of the way.

Also the fog was very heavy on the water today until 11:00 this morning so I can see why they couldn't spot it at first.

Somewhere I have a can about the size of a tuna can, with a specialized joke label.

Contents: "The Aroma of Tacoma"

Man, those pulp mills can stink...

Wouldn't the tuna smell BETTER than the pulp mills?? Is that what you are supposed to put your nose in to avoid that stench? LOL.

They can smell pretty putrid. I am lucky that I live "up wind" from there, so we don't smell it. They've cleaned them up a lot, though. When we first lived here, you could smell it on some days at my parents' in Lakewood. Not anymore. I couldn't take living in Fife, though..

"I can't take living in Fife, though"

Neither could I. If I were 20 miles west, I'd jump off a bridge. But if I were 20 miles west in Fife, there are no bridges.

Well howdy neighbor! Hopefully this oil will break up, dissapate or whatever and not be an ugly problem.

This morning on Channel 2 news said the spill had spread from Vashon to Gig Harbor to the Narrows bridge. We are going to the boat in Gig Harbor later so we can see exactly what is happening on the water there.I'll ping you tonight after we return with my report.

Thanks.... would be good to hear your report. Saw the press conference this morning that they are looking for where it came from still, and the fine will be high. Not reporting any real damage other than visible oil here and there. Yuck.

Its a safety precaution. Can't have the entire population jumping off of them.
