Kerry's last statement, asks for help, trust, leading great nation stronger at home, safer forever, respected abroad, uses the God bless America last line. Gag. GW talking about a painting in the WH, optimism of dawn, his accomplishments and what he hopes to do in next four. War on terror requires clear purpose and firm resolve. 'I'm askin' for your vote.' TerAYsa in red, looks like a vampire. Brit thinks GW did better than first debate, marshalled facts, looked comfortable. Thinks Kerry did okay, but President was so much better and in command of material. Average poll shows GW three to five points ahead. Fred Barnes says President animated from beginning, thought he did really, really well. Mort mentions Kerry's bringing up Cheney's daughter...low blow, weakens the Bush/Cheney team, dirty pool. President looks forward, talked as a reformer. Gave him a positive thrust, aggressive...Mort thinks GW won!!!!!!
I thought Bush looked a little shaky right up to the point that Shiefer asked him about his faith. At that point his whole demeaner changed and he simply creamed Kerry through the end of the debate. And, his response to Shiefer about Laura was absolutely beautiful. That last 15 minutes for Bush simply destroyed any points Kerry may have made prior to that.
