DNC Files FEC Complaint Against Sinclair Broadcasting
Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Terry McAuliffe and DNC Legal Counsel Joe Sandler will host a conference call today at 1:30 PM ET to announce the DNC's decision to file an FEC complaint against Sinclair Broadcasting's illegal in-kind contribution to the Bush-Cheney campaign.
..."illegal in-kind contribution" sounds like it might have legs.
It might have legs if the movie was pro-Bush which it is not. It does not advocate the election of anyone and therefore is not a "contribution". The FEC is going to have to apply the same logic (i.e. "anti-Peter" does not equal "pro-Paul") that it employed in it's decison regarding 527s earlier this year.
