VDay is a Libertarian; for him to make this argument is unusual, to say the least. That's why I paid attention to it.
Only problem: I don't know where he's going with this. Simply to state that 'the game is rigged'--well, it ain't necessarily so.
But he is right when he states that corporations are not necessary for Capitalism to exist. The larger question is whether Capitalism is ideal, and the answer is no.
Corporations are necessary in a modern society. They provide the organization, capital, efficiencies of scale and infrastructure necessary for production, R&D etc. etc. etc.
Is capitalism ideal? No. But nothing is ideal. And, when combined with democracy, there's the opportunity to smooth out the bumps and the humps.
Yet the courts have created and the legislatures have allowed our, We the People's, mastery to be mooted and we are made peons and vassals before a corporation.
What would you suggest then? The mercantilist mess that has been rampant in this nation of states for the last 100 years at least? Where those that cannot produce as efficiently as their competitors go to the government falsely claiming monopolistic actions? Capitalism hasn't existed in this nation of states for many years.
