My wife is 19 weeks pregnant. She is considered "high risk" for number of factors. Her OBGYN told her she cannot deliver our baby because she can no longer afford the insurance premium. Insurance companies and doctors here in New Jersey all say the lawsuits are out of control! We had to find another doctor to take over her care!
Last week I had to take my wife to the ER for a severe sinus infection. ER doc told me his insurance in three years went from $17,000 to $56,000 and he has no suits/judgements against him-- ever! TRIAL LAWYERS SUCK! They own the Demorats lock, stock and barrel.

I have noticed that the vast majority of women that I know are having C-sections these days. I seriously doubt that there are so many "high risk" pregnancies that require intervention unless the OB's are afraid of a lawsuit if something goes wrong.

We were seeing a reproductive endocrinologist who lobbied for tort reform in Texas in 2003...jury award cap. He told us that his insurance (which had tripled in one year to a whopping $300,000!) was rebated to him after the legislation passed in Texas, and he was able to hire three more receptionist types, which were desperately needed.
