I'm on the road often, and in the last month, wanted to see how many Bush stickers(And Anti-Kerry stickers like Stop Hanoi John and Not Fonda Kerry), John Kerry stickers, and Kerry/Edwards stickers I've seen. I did not count non candidate mentioning related stickers like Union stickers, NRA stickers, or Choose Life stickes.
Most of my travels are in two counties, one of which is staunch republican and one which is staunch democrat.
I divided most of this up in three sections. Bush stickers, the John Kerry stickers without Edwards(and anti-Bush), and Kerry/Edwards. I seperated the stickers, since the non Edwards ones are the die hards who are ABB. They didn't even wait. The Kerry/Edwards ones MIGHT be die hards, or might have made a more recent decision.
Livingston County:(Not expressway)
Bush Cheney- 74
Howell - 47, Brighton 23, Hartland 3, Fowlerville 1
John Kerry(w'out Edwards) - 15
Howell 12, Brighton 3
Kerry/Edwards - 8
Howell 4, Brighton 4
A 74-23 lead in the bumper sticker count. I'd say the sign ration is about 2.5-1(MAYBE 3-1) now(despite stealing) in our favor which isn't bad, although I'd like to see it more one sided our way. It was even up for awhile in signs since State Party was late in getting them out. I'm surprised I haven't seen much in Fowlerville, although I haven't been that way as much lately. I'm not in the Southern tier of the county, nor in Hartland that often.
Ingham County (Not Expressway)
Bush/Cheney - 36
Okemos 8, East Lansing 19, Lansing 6, Haslett 2, Holt 1
Kerry - 28
East Lansing 19, Lansing 6, Okemos 2, Holt 1
Kerry Edwards - 23
East Lansing 16, Lansing 5, Mason 1, Okemos 1
About 60% in Ingham is close to what I'd expect here, especially since I'm usually in the more democrat section of it - East Lansing/Lansing/Okemos. I'm shocked there were 19 Bush stickers in East Lansing to begin win. My one major surprise is Okemos. Okemos leans democrat with a lot of soccer moms, students, professors, and state workers, but I've seen more Bush stickers there than Kerry stickers. If Bush wins Okemos, I'd be shocked. I haven't been to Haslett, Holt and Mason much since I moved.
Signs - About 1.5-1 Kerry in Lansing, 2-1 Kerry in East Lansing, 50/50 in Okemos, and 1.5-1 Bush elsewhere Expressway:
Bush Cheney - 20
I-96 - 16, US127 and US23 - 2 each
Kerry - 7, all I-96
Kerry/Edwards - 2, all I-96
Elsewhere
Bush
3 - Washtenaw County
2 - Oakland County
Kerry
4 - Washtenaw County
1 - Oakland County
Kerry/Edwards
2 Oakland, 1 Washtenaw
Signs - Washtenaw: Kerry's dominating Ann Arbor 100% from what I've seen. I was only on Maple Rd though. 2-1 Kerry in Scio. I HAVE seen a lot of local GOP signs in Scio of all places, so it's not all bad news there.
Oakland: Probably 1.5 to 2-1 Bush in Milford, Novi and Wixom from what I saw. Farmington Hills was shockingly 50/50. I figured it'd be much more pro-Kerry. Even better was the amount of Bill Largent signs I saw. Maybe Aldo Vagnozzi will be retired!!!!
Keep on counting, here in central Pennsylvania, I have handed out over 465 Bush/Cheney bumper stickers or W 04 stickers. Only found 28 people to put on a free flush the johns. bush 04 sticker.
I purchase them myself and hand them out free whenever I can. Every little bit of help works.
My new most asked for:
John Kerry Putting America down since 1971 !!!!!!
LIE: Kerry/Edwards 04
TRUTH: Doom & Gloom 04
Dan's on the job!
I want a "Want some wood?" sticker. I have been laughin' all day about that.
I also didn't count cars at party events.
The bumper sticker count for MI is encouraging.
I live in Baltimore. I've noticed a fairly big increase number of Bush bumper stickers. On the other hand there are not nearly as many as there were when Ellrich won the governors race (first republican gov in about 30 years in MD)
I have a "W 04" sticker on my car. Never had one before. I am a professor at Johns Hopkins. I'm wondering how many more days it will be before it is ripped off in the college parking lot :)
I'd guess yard signs here in Central PA (Williamsport area) are about 2:1 in Bush's favor, and thats not counting the ones that have been removed.
Revenue Enhancement Mercs(they aren't even cops)
Bumper stickers are running about 4-1 for Kerry here in NJ.
I am seeing loads and loads of yellow ribbon shaped "support the troops" stickers. I understand those are Bush supporters who choose not to have their cars vandalized.
I actually haven't had any problems yet in Lansing (a union town as well) or East Lansing and I even have a "Stop Hanoi John Kerry" sticker to go with my dad's "Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry".
Although I have a gun sticker on there as well.
Usually, not always. I didn't count them.
I have seen one truck with a Kerry sticker and a yellow ribbon.
I have seen a lot more yellow ribbons though with Bush stickers though.
We took our daughter apple picking today in Western Massachusetts.
House that had pick-up trucks, with company lettering on the sidein the driveway, you know, people who actually have to work for a living, had Bush yard sighns.
Houses that had Saab's and Volvo's in the driveways had Kerry sighns.
The UAW will deliver Michigan for the socialistcrats one way or another.
They even gave their members the day off to vote for Kerry as many times as they can get away with.
UAW HOLIDAYS IN 2004
In the first year of our new agreement, there are 8 holidays during the Christmas period and 18 total holidays for the contractual year.
They are as follows:
January 1 - New years Day
January 2 - Day after New Years
January 19 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
April 9 - Good Friday
April 12 - Day after Easter
May 28 - Friday before Memorial Day
May 31 - Memorial Day
July 5 - Day after Independence Day
September 6 - Labor Day
November 2 - Federal Election Day
November 15 - Veterans' Day
November 25 - Thanksgiving Day
November 26 - Day after Thanksgiving
December 24-31 - Christmas Holiday Period
Somehow in beteween all of those days off they find time to gouge American consumers on the price of cars. This doesn't even include bonuses.
Buy used and say NO to union extortionists.
But Kerry supporters don't tend to own cars they either shuffle along in the ditch mumbling to themselves or they ride the bus. And it takes a lot of bumper stickers on cars to outweigh one sticker on a bus ;-)
You and the lady in brown in the back row who almost fell off her chair trying to keep from laughing out loud when Bush made that quip!
I've noticed along with your observations about Volvos, most of the older homes (historical society type) are mostly Kerry/Edwards supporters.
