When you watch the debate replay, pay extra attention to Kerry's comments just after the environmental question from the audience member. Kerry makes some bizarre statement (meant to be a joke, I guess) that sounded something like this: "The president isn't living in a world of reality. If you're a Red Sox fan it's okay. If you're president, it's not."

When I'm not so tired, I'll have to go back and re-check the tape I made of the debate, but I doubt that I'll still understand what he meant. Comments about Kerry's Red Sox "joke" are around 3201-3300, 3301-4000 on this thread.

My wife and I heard it and couldnt believe it. I guess he figures hes got Mass sown up so he can insult the fans there. This is from the guy who thought a Red Sox player was named Manny Ortiz.....jesus what a chump Kerry is

Kerry was saying that W believes things will happen that never will. Red Sox fans always believe they're going to win the World Series, but never do. It was a stupid analogy/joke that his handlers came up with, and it bombed all over the place.
