Since he was passed out with his shoes on, tradition called for other fraternity members to draw on Bailey with a felt-tipped marker.

OK sounds like a kewl tradition. But next time check for breathing...

There are zillions of pictures all over the net of kids that got decorated after passing out drunk. Nobody even thinks that someone can die from it.

Sadly, each year, some kids are going to die from alcohol poisoning. Some are going to get killed in car accidents. Some are going to die from undiagnosed illnesses.

There is a whole website devoted to drunk college kids: www.drunk-as-hell.com

it is wrong for them to "force" him to drink so much and not realize he was in trouble.

That being said, if a main point is the writing on the kid, thats absurd, that isnt hazing, that is a penalty for drinking to the point of passing out. In the navy or on my rugby team, you dont get away with anything less than pictures or maybe a tatoo. we dropped one buddy off at his fiancee's mother's house once.

YEah, the last night of my first year in college, our last night together in the dorm, I passed out and my friends put my bed (with me on it) in the hallway hoping my mother and my brother would show up to pick me up to go home the next morning and find me there.

Actually it was my roomate's doing because we had pranked him with shaving cream and assorted goodies when he had passed out a couple of months prior. He had sworn revenge on me.

I agree though, check for breathing.
