Yeah, I lean more your way. Probably many of these kids, being the naive fools they are, think they are under the safe watch of their "brothers" and nothing bad will happen. Reputation runs both ways and you would think one of the older members would "supervise" the pledges to be sure things did not get out of hand.

This is a freebie. The next kid that drinks himself to death is an a**hole, no questions asked.
I don't question the brotherhood of fraternities...we had the same thing in the service.
But at the very least, if this kid was underage, its gotta' be some type of manslaughter.
These are different times than when most of us were young, and the new generation of kids just doesn't seem as responsible as we were when we were their age.
What's the difference between this and playing Russian Roulette? No one is "forcing" these kids to do this. On the same line, however, how many teenagers die because dumb stunts being pulled in any situation? Just because the situation where this tragedy happened is identifiable, is no reason to ban the situation. (Wood houses catch fire, boats sink, planes fall, etc..)
I cannot imagine the pain this kids family is going through, and I pray that something like this never happens to anyone I love.
