No, you'd be wrong. The appropriate question would not be his race but his religious affiliation. If Al Q has been trying to recruit people that are less conspicuous. Then a black man in Russia is not less conspicuous but more.
So, it still does not answer the question of why the poster added the race to the article. Except to incite this discussion.

Get real. Had his race not been mentioned, everyone would have assumed he was a white or near white guy that blended in with the ethnic population of the region, maybe chechnya being his ancestral homeland, and he being a muslim born and raised.
A black guy in the region sticks out like a sore thumb. Consider it from the point of view of someone who lives there, and seldom if ever see's black people.
hardly a position I would want to be in if I was trying to carry out terrorist activity. Might as well paint me florescent orange and put a flashing light on my head.

So, I can assume one thing, and that this guy was real dumb. You'd think he'd go fight for "Allah" in a place where black muslims don't draw attention to themselves.

I think you have sensitivity issues that prevent you from seeing the relevance of his color to this particular story.

The mention of his skin color points out something peculiar in this story. it isn't a slam against blacks like you seem to be suggesting.
And, you really don't know what color I am, do you?
You assumed I'm white. You really have no cause to, except as I said, your personal misguided sensitivity to this article and the poster pointing out that the perp was black.
I bet you assumed it was meant in a derogatory way before you even read the article, and considered the location and cother variables. Thus, you blinded yourself to the importance of the fact.
