How old did Edwards say he was when this was happening? He was born in 1953, and PBS wasn't around until 1969, so he was approaching adulthood.

He probably should have helped his dad with the math.

My mom took classes on tv to learn to pass the citizenship test. That was in the very early 1960s I think.

So even if there wasn't a PBS in present form, there was educational programming out there, most likely on uhf channels.

I'll ask her about it.

Well, if this was the early 1960's...see post 417 (I think...trying to follow too much)...

Edwards' dad COULD have conceivably taken math classes on television.
