You have to be a southerner or have southern roots to use the very powerful Bless your heart. It just doesn't seem right out of a yankee's mouth. Imagine "Bless your heart" with a Boston accent. Geez! I actually heard that once (you can't mistake a Boston accent) and to my sensitve Southern ears, it sounded worse than a fart in church.

When Nashville landed the NHL Predators, I used to chuckle to think how funny it would sound if the announcer said, in a DEEP southern drawl, "He Shoots, He Scores!"
