I should add that while I have every confidence in Cheney, I don't have confidence in the questions he'll be asked. I suspect there won't be any balance whatsoever in going over the candidates records. I hope I'm wrong.
Time for Cheney to use Edward's Saddam quote against him.
Cheney cites success in Iraq is well on the way.
Edwards speaking directly to Cheney saying there is NO connection between Iraq and 9/11 and he says even a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda are tenous at best.
Gwen moves on from there and asks Edward if Saddam would still be in power if it had been up to them.
Edwards: Had to be done "the right way".
No WMD, didn't take our eye off the ball: Al Qaeda, who attacked us. Right to go into Afghanistan but at Tora Bora--turned over from there. Starts to say Saddam, then corrects to Osama bin Laden.
Repeats that diverted attention to Al Qaeda. Underscores no 9/11 Iraq connection. Really emphasizes.
Cheney: Senator has his facts wrong. I have not suggested Iraq 9/11 connection, but there is a Al Qaeda relationship.
