The debate between John Edwards and Dick Cheney presented Americans with a stark choice.

John Edwards shared an optimistic vision for the next four years: Genuine leadership in the war on terror. An economic growth plan that creates jobs and keeps them here at home. Affordable health care for every American. A plan to make America stronger at home and respected abroad.

But Dick Cheney had nothing to share but attacks and excuses. As the architect of four years of failed Bush administration policies, Cheney had a lot to answer for in this debate. But he failed to explain those failures, instead attacking John Kerry over and over again.

I want a plan for the future, not attacks and excuses. The vice presidential debate made it clear that John Kerry and John Edwards are the right choice.

My wife and I were in the ob-gyn's office the other day (my wife is six months pregnant) and he went off on the DEMS ... saying he had voted Dem all his life, but that now he was a Repub because of their handling of medical malpractice, and that good doctors were moving out of Washington (state) because of people like JohnE

Could we have some kind of agreement before the debate to keep the hand-wringing to a minimum? I had to leave the last live thread. And it was uncalled for, the polls are just as "mixed" as they were before the debate. Whata ya say? Can I get a pledge from each of you to refrain form any "Cheney is getting killed / We're going to lose the election" type posts?

Absolutely right! I've lived in NC all my life and I have never--NEVER--heard anybody talk like John Edwards. He's channeling Scarlett O'Hara.
