Democrats put Leahy in prime debate spot, months after he sparked curses from Cheney
CLEVELAND (AP) -- At tonight's vice-presidential debate, Dick Cheney may have to stare straight at a recent sore spot. Democrats have given a prime seat at the debate to Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy, the lawmaker Cheney publicly cursed in June. At the time, both men were on the floor of the Senate and Leahy criticized Cheney's former company, Halliburton. Cheney responded with a four-letter word in front of other members of the Senate. He's never apologized for the remark and the White House says it has no problem with Cheney's words. But the Bush campaign does have an issue with tonight's seating. A Bush-Cheney staff member called the Kerry campaign to complain about Leahy's prominence.

Yeah, I'm sure Cheney is shaking in his boots, thinking that a doofus like Leahy is sitting there. If the Dems want to distract Cheney, they should put a naked woman there. Of course that might distract Edwards too. Or maybe not.
To: Thanatos
The Dems are childish and sophmoric if they believe this will have ANY effect on Cheney's performance. Puh-leaze.

Hell, I wouldn't even give the Dems the decency of a response or a complaint.
Who cares who they "put up front"?

Id rather see Gwen Ifill removed as moderator, Cheney will be fine.
To: Thanatos
With any luck Cheney will tell Leaky to F off on national television and solidify my vote a little more.

The is a first year law trick to try and distract the other person. Also is the reason Kerry and Edtards say the things they do about Bush and Cheney, to make them mad.

They should put a match box ambulance with a little stick man running after it.
To: Thanatos
Cheney should find a way to drop Leahy's name during the debate. Make a joke at Leahy's expense. Mention how Democrats cannot be trusted with classified information all the while smiling at Leahy. Make him squirm in his seat so after he feels compelled to respond with a nasty remark to the press.

He sparked "curses" plural?
And who is claiming a Bush-Cheney person called to complain about Leahy's presence? I'll bet a Kerriac is claiming it and lying. If they think Cheney is intimidated by Patsy Leahy they are more insane than even I imagined.
