Conventional wisdom now holds that both the Bush/Cheney and the Kerry/Edwards campaigns have planned surprises in order to shake the race in their favor this month. What could those surprises be? Here are some suggestions, are there any others?

Kerry surprises for Bush: 1) Allegations that Bush got a girl pregnant and talked her into an abortion in the early 70's

There would be no proof for that even if it was. It wouldn't change my vote either way. I'm more concerned that Kerry's mom didn't have an abortion.

I think The Democrats' planned October Surprise was to be that "Bush was a cokehead."
That's what the whole CBS story was supposed to set the table for, along with Kitty Kelly's timely book release.

The whole reason the Democrats have been trying to make Bush's physical an issue is to make the accusation that he avoided it because of drug use. They needed to "prove" that he actually was supposed to take it, and that's what the "disobeying a direct order" forged document was designed to do.

My theory is that the DNC and MSM were not planning a single October surprise but an orchestrated media campaign that was to begin right after Labor Day and last up until the election.

The CBS National Guard story was part of that campaign. It was obvious that it was orchestrated, and that everyone in the liberal network was ready to go with it.

I agree with a couple of Freepers who have suggested that the "Bush bugged out on his physical" forgeries were intended to lead up to the question, WHY did he bug out on his physical? Then they would have revived the old drug charges,which are also being pushed in Kitty Kelly's book.

The whole campaign went off the rails when Freepers and others uncovered the forgery. They lost a good month's worth of propaganda momentum.

We will still be seeing all sorts of nasty lies. But I wouldn't call it so much an October surprise as an orchestrated propaganda campaign. That's why everyone on the left is so mad about Rathergate. It's beginning to fade from popular consciousness, but it badly damaged their campaign.

Why would it? Bush is definitely pro-life now. Kerry has never been pro-life. Bush is an honorable man today. Kerry has never been honorable or a man. Bush is pro-marriage. Kerry is pro-gigolo and pro-gay-subversion of marriage.
