Are you ready for a fundraiser?

It's time again to raise the funds necessary to keep Free Republic on the air. And on the air is where we want to be! And on the air is where Dan Rather wants to be, but thanks to some sharp eyed FReepers, HIS air time may soon be ending.

And we can hope that John Kerry's air time will also soon be ending. Thanks to the Swift Boat Vets, with help and support from FRN and the FReepers, we've managed to put a huge hole in Kerry's hopes of winning the Presidency.

It's been a rather exciting quarter for Free Republic -- catching the AP in some outright false reporting, catching Dan Rather passing off forged military documents in cahoots with his Democrat coconspirators in a failed attempt to knockoff a sitting president, and helping the Swiftees get their ads on the air and spreading the word about Kerry's cowardice and treason in Vietnam. Did you know John Kerry served in Vietnam? The only question is who did he serve?

And we're expecting a pretty exciting 4th quarter on FR with the debates, the final four weeks of the campaign, and then the election itself. Free Republic readership is growing like crazy and we've recently doubled the size of our system to handle the increasing demand. We added a fifth server to the system earlier during the quarter and John just spent the weekend up in San Jose installing three more new servers. Free Republic is now running on eight servers! Free Republic is becoming a monster online force!!

We're also planning the Free Republic George W. Bush Inaugural Ball II, to be held in Washington D.C., on January 20, 2005. Will begin running some threads on this during the next couple of weeks, but feel free to chime in on this thread if you plan on attending. You won't want to miss this, I promise you!

Yes, it's going to be an exciting time to be a member of Free Republic. Breaking news and live threads every day on the war, on the debates, on the campaigns and on every important news story impacting all of America and all of the world. Plus the FReeps, rallies, protests, trips, meetings and other opportunities for FReepers to join together in person for fellowship and to promote our causes.

If you are enjoying Free Republic as much as I hope you are and would like to help us remain on the air, please consider clicking the donation link and make a contribution today. We are setting our goal a little higher this quarter. In addition to our regular budgeted expenses, we've purchased quite a bit of equipment, plus we have some taxes to pay. The additional investments and taxes will have just about depleted our cash reserves and we'll need to replenish them if we can.

Thank you very much if you can make a donation and thank you again if you can make it a monthly. Our monthlies are growing and are now over 50% of our regular budgeted expenses! Great job Monthlies!!

Again, looking forward to all the great events that are coming our way in the next few weeks and months!

Thank you all very much for your patriotism and continuing participation and support for Free Republic and our great conservative causes!

God bless you all and God bless America!

Prayers for our troops.

Yes on the greasy. I don't remember the stringy.

I DO, however, remember the pellets I came across while eating the meat.

Naaaaaaaaaaaasty!

I'm watching the local news

Ooops

WEST PHILADELPHIA-October 4, 2004 — A group of West Philadelphia residents is reeling after a roofing job went bad, and the resulting inferno reduced cars to hunks of charred metal.

Marie Staley hired a roofing company to work on her house on Dearborn Street. The people from Singleton Roofing were on the job early this morning. But when Staley walked outside to check on their progress, Dearborn Street was on fire.

Marie Staley/West Philadelphia: "I went out the house then I saw the car on fire. Then I just started running down trying to get people out of the house."

People who live on this block quickly started running for their car keys in the hope that they get to their vehicles ahead of the smoldering river of tar.

Cheryl Boyd/West Philadelphia: "But when I came out all I could see was flames moving down the street... I have 2 cars out on the street... that one was already gone up in flames. All I could see was the flames and the smoke, couldn't even see my car."

People from the roofing company say someone apparently forgot to lower a kick standing that prevents the tar kiln from toppling when it's in operation. Julius Singleton, owner of Singleton Roofing says, the whole thing is embarrassing.

Julius Singleton/Singleton Roofing: "I been in the 'hood about forty some years, this is the first time it's happened. Just a little accident that's all." Firefighters needed about 30 minutes to bring the situation under control. Damage estimates are about $100,000. Singleton was apparently checking to see if he has the proper insurance coverage to handle this kind of accident.

I love causing migraines for the left!!!!

But I don't keep FR running, I just toss in a couple bucks on a monthly basis and keep the FReepathon threads bumped to the top when I can.

I could never payback what FR gives me every day in either news or friendship and camaraderie.

Orange must be in. I was trying to find something about Mt. St. Helen's and noticed that Larry King is orange.

Burning Thong Stunt
FLINT, MI-October 4, 2004 — For a few moments last weekend, the punk band Treephort was the hottest act in town.

But the group got into trouble at a downtown club when the lead guitarist set his thong on fire, then removed it and scurried around the stage naked.

The Atlanta-based band was about 20 minutes into its set Sept. 25 at the venue Flint Local 432 when guitarist Joe Klein dropped his pants, set fire to the thong and removed it. The bass player also stripped.

The club's management ordered the band to get off the stage.

"They threatened to break stated policies of the club, and so we told them their set was over and asked them to leave," said club owner Joel Rash. The stunt violated the Local's insurance policy and city rules against open flames in the building.

Treephort concerts routinely feature members dousing a thong with hairspray before igniting it with a lighter, singer Lee Satterfield said. "We've all done it from time to time," he said. "We're professionals; we know what we're doing."
