The UN inspector reports from 1998 talked about Saddam having 30,000 liters of this and 40,000 liters of that. My backyard swimming pool, 15' X 30' X 4' holds somewhere between 40,000 and 50,000 liters. That's right - many of the banned "stockpiles" could fit in two tanker trucks.
And may I remind the group that Western Iraq is one huge sandbox? You want to hide something? Wrap it in plastic, bury it with a bulldozer fifteen or twenty feet down. Cover carefully, cache-mark the spot with GPS, and in a few hours the winds will erase any trace of your activities.
I have photos on my hard drive at work of US soldiers unearthing two MIG-29 fighters (purportedly with the latest French and German avionics) from a sandpile in Iraq.
