I see. So your solution would be to expand the NBA to how many teams? A thousand?
solution? this was simply showing how quoting the median salary for engineers means nothing for a college age person choosing a career - because, as with being an NBA star, the salary is meaningless, its the number of available new jobs that drives the selection. offshoring is actually increasing the average engineering salary, because jobs are being shed and only the higher paid people remain for now.
american college kids should, and are, staying away from the field - and if they are the children of parents who currently work in tech, an informal survey of my friends and co-workers would indidate a near 100% avoidance. its no different then the well established statistics showing how many children of public school teachers - go to private schools. what do those public school teacher parents know, that causes them to send their kids to private schools? what do the tech parents know, that cause them to steer their kids to law school?
