If one debate can cause an 8%-10% swing in voters, then there is no hope for this country. People are too dumbed down to see reality any longer. Oh, come now. You can't get mad at the population just because they don't react they way you want them to. These debates, despite their flaws and superficiality, are important. The 1980 campaign was very tight until the very end and Reagan won a debate and the election in a landslide. Were they dumbed down in 1980?

50%+ of the population believe that there is NO SUCH THING AS TERRORISM. They believe that 9/11 was an isolation incident that we should just get over already and that Bush is "evil for trying to scare everyone for no reason...". So yeah I'd say that people are freaking stupid.
