I sent the following (indirectly) to Gwen Ifill and Bob Schieffer earlier today. I couldn't find actual e-mail addresses for either of them, but there feedback options at PBS.org and CBSNews.com. Perhaps if they received more than one of these requests we can see some form of the question actually make the debate.

Good luck to you on moderating the upcoming debate. I have a question I would like to see Senator Kerry answer;

Senator Kerry, in the first debate you mentioned a book you had written in the 1990’s, but you did not mention a book you wrote in the 1970’s. The cover of the book showed a group of Vietnam War protestors holding an American flag upside down, in a satire of the Marines raising the flag at Iwo Jima during World War II.

What I would like to know, Senator Kerry, is could you please explain to the American people what is the significance of flying the American flag upside down, and why you felt compelled to have this image on the cover of your book?

I believe that when you know something's going wrong, you make it right. That's what I learned in Vietnam. When I came back from that war I saw that it was wrong. Some people don't like the fact that I stood up to say no, but I did. And that's what I did with that vote. And I'm going to lead those troops to victory.

I would preface it, "Since you brought up your anti-war activity in the first debate....
