Regardless, this is terrible news. The last Newsweek Poll had Bush ahead of Kerry 52-41, so their bias should be the same in both polls. This is bad news.

Where do you get your numbers from. I have last Newsweek ant 50-45 on 9/10. I can't find your 11 pnt lead anywhere.

We don't even know what the numbers for the President are yet. Bush might be 5 points ahead instead of 11.

Check out this. So how do you explain this? Newsweek says lead gone, Gallup/CNN say debates didn't budget people? Which is correct?

So rather then hyperventalating, maybe we should hold off on the "OH THIS IS BAD NEWS" panic attacks

"This is bad news."

Well, read this thread, take two aspirin, and you'll feel better.

This is bad news.

If one debate can have a turnaround impact on a poll (Newsweek), how important is it for presisdent Bush to do much better on the next two? It seems he is affected by pressure because there is a night and day difference in his ease and articulation before a friendly crowd versus before a debate audience and opponent (in person and at home.)

Um, this poll was conducted by Princeton, and reported by Newsweek, is that the way they did the other poll? If not, why?

" . . . their bias should be the same in both polls."

You're such an innocent. If they're willing to bias their polls, in other words, to make them deliberately misleading, then that means they're willing to lie. If one is willing to lie, doesn't it make sense then to use those lies to ACCOMPLISH something? It's much more effective to play with the results in such a way that public opinion is manipulated. By overstating the Bush lead after the Republican convention, and making it disappear altogether now, they can create the impression that the momentum has completely shifted away from Bush and towards Kerry. The big MO, you know. If you're a stocktrader in real life, you should know the drill-- the analysts hype a stock beyond all rational basis, then all bail at once. Some people make a killing, but most people get screwed, and neither the overly rosy view nor the overly gloomy view was ever a fair representation of reality.

The moral of the story is, never trust a liar. Even if they're telling you what you want to hear. Liars lie.

I read that in the article too but it's a deception. The article is sighting the 11 point lead after the convention but there was a more recent Newsweek poll showing a 6 point lead. Either way it sucks.
