COALITION SOLDIERS FIND FIVE WEAPONS CACHES
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan Coalition Soldiers have found five separate weapons caches Thursday.
The first two caches were found near Gardez, and consisted of 700 107 mm rockets, 250 82 mm rounds, several tons of small arms ammunition, three rocket propelled grenade launchers, nine RPGs, three rocket boosters, 56 25 mm rounds, and twenty 12.75 mm rounds.
The 107 mm and 82 mm rockets will be distributed to checkpoints. All other unserviceable munitions will be destroyed.
The third cache was found outside of Jalalabad, and consisted of 11 75 mm recoilless rifle rounds.
The fourth cache was found in Zabul Province, and consisted of 60 107 mm high explosive rounds, 63 82 mm rounds, 30 60 mm rounds and 3 RPG rounds.
A local district official turned in the cache. All unserviceable munitions will be destroyed at a later date.
The fifth cache was found outside of Bagram Air Field, and consisted of 30-40 assorted rockets.
The cache is unserviceable, and will be destroyed at a later date.
