Steam eruption?

BAsed on posts above, it's an ash eruption. The steam would have been the first part, caused by melting snow in the fissure.

Mount Rainier is NOT active and has NEVER been active during this Mt. St. Helens swarm or any time remotely recently

"Active" means "capable of erupting." By that definition, Rainier is an active volcano.

FNC reporting possible eruption.
May be one of several as magma rises to the top.

There is another thread that shows an increase in earthquake activity under Rainier. They did not appear to be sympathetic to Mount St. Helens. So, it is out there.

"Active" means "capable of erupting." By that definition, Rainier is an active volcano.

It's pretty clear the poster was referring to the idiotic thread started a couple days ago by someone that thought Mt. Rainier itself was having an earthquake swarm, failing to realize the seismometer there was simply picking up the earthquakes from Mt. St. Helens.

Hope everyone has left the area. the '80 quake sent ash all the way to my area in WA. Doubtful it'll reach that far this time.

If I were Kerry, I'd be kinda ticked off today.
First, they allegedly found Laurie Hacking's remains in the SLC landfill.
And now this.
