Category = mountain out of molehill. If you couldn't get your mind off his tie, you might have OCD.

I don't disagree with the level of importance -- it is small. But, seriously, it was very lightly distracting.

And I have ADD, not OCD, so if Bush had repeatedly changed his ties' pattern and color, maybe I would have liked it more. ;^)

I can't disagree that it lends to the overall picture, but I also think that most people would never even be able to verbalize the effect you're talking about.
