Thread 1 - Pre-Debate discussion
lol...I noticed that too. Kerry has a "four point plan," more troops on the border, faster training of Iraqi troops, etc., la la la. Just HOW he is going to do this is quite unknown. And all this....for a war he would not have went into. What a leader, style, broad promises, mixed messages, no substance.
That's so 2002!
"Now, now. Calm down. Senator Spitball pointed out earlier in the debate that he would increase funding for police and firefighters. So if we should suffer a nuclear attack there will be plenty of police and firefighters on hand."
"Unless they happened to get nuked. But what are the odds?"
;) Thanks I needed that. I was a tad upset.
Seriously, if Kerry is in the odds are in the favor of terrorists. So we'll be caught with out pants down and unlike Sandy Berger we won't have anything there ... but heck we'll clean up what ever survives and march on with white flags and hope our "sensitivty" to them makes them like us more.
I do wish Bush had clobbered this freak. He can do it nicely and in a joking manner. You don't have to be all mean and nasty.
Bush has been preparing for debates for two months.
" Kerry also tried to sound very hawkish, something that doesn't play well with his base."
Exactly. This is the point Dick Morris has been making the past few days.
One thing to remember about the Demoncrats. They will say and do anything to gain control. That is their number one goal and priority. The War on Terror be damned, they want the pursestrings. That's it. They desire and covet the treasury and the ability to buy loyalty. Kerry stated that he'd go to Europe and ask Europe: "What do you want?" It's obvious what Europe wants. Our money and our docile co-operation. In the domestic issues debate, Kerry will attack the tax cuts and the wealthy in America. He'll practice the politics of division and class envy. He'll promise money to the have-nots and once again use the Left program of buying off the special interests.
Kerry may have scribbled talking points on that pad. He may have scribbled a memo to resupply Tereza's Valium prescription. He may just as well have scribbled $ signs, just to keep himself focused on what it's all about for he and his ilk.
I'm pretty sure Kerry has dentures. He must have let them soak extra long to get them so nice and white.
President Bush seemed to be more natural and honest. His answers were from the heart. Kerry was a more skilled debater. No one who hasn't already made up his/her mind was watching the debate. Alot will happen between now and Nov 2. Bush will win by a large margin. Good night.
Just got home and missed most of the debate (heard about 20 minutes on the car radio) There is no way I'm going to read through 5,000 posts tonight, pack to leave tomorrow and make it to work in the morning.
...Can someone please have a little mercy and give my a symposis of what happened and how well Bush did in comparison to sKerry.....Thanks
It's the Bush Smirk. The people are used to it. It won't hurt him. I loved it but was saying "Dubya, watch your face..." LOL!
Lurch just placed a notorious Nazi concentration camp in Poland right into Soviet Russia!!
Thanks for the clarification. I didn't catch that gaff when Kerry uttered it.

Not to mention that Osama (or at least his dead corpse) escaped in December 2001, a full year before we started building up for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Kerry says the tax cut was dumb. We were in a dangerous economic position with the bursting of the dot com bubble and 911. No fiscal stimulus and we risk a 1929-1930 style downward spiral. How would a depression make America stronger?
It wouldn't, but it would make gubmint stronger (see automatic weapons ban, Social Security).
Phil Hendrie thinks Bush won on substance. Good commentary going on right now on his syndicated radio show.
How many Presidential debates have you watched?
The President had constant message tonight, Kerry is the one who wanted to look like the smartest student. I sincerely believe if you can write "shame" on the man who stood on the rubble in 2001, then you have serious issues with why you support the candidate. You don't suddenly become a great debator when it's all your opponent has done for 20 years. No amount of coaching in weeks is going to prepare you for that. Bush is a delegator as President. He listens, considers, makes decisions and gives people the authority to carry them out. The reason people like Bush is because he's not Joe Debator with a pat answer for everything. He's real and that's what counts.

I missed that one
I agree that the President spoke to the people. Kerry drove me nuts with all the hand gestures.
I do wish the President had said something when Kerry mentioned he was going to shut down the development of the bunker buster bombs...The president should have said..that would be expected of someone who voted against every weapon now being used to fight the war on terror. Otherwise I thought the President stayed right on his message. Kerry is just too slick and people should see that. I hope the chance comes up for Bush to mention some of the filpflop things again...
Really?!!!??!
That's quite a big flub up...
